In 2020, RES implemented 2200MW of new clean energy projects, taking the overall amount of operating technologies funded by the organization to 7GW. The additional RES solar capacity added online last year would prevent the equivalent of about 4.3 million tons of carbon dioxide per year, the organization said, bringing the cumulative pollution avoided from RES ventures to 19 million tons. RES noted that it recorded more than 23,000 main staff trips from its 24/7/365 control center on as well as off projects and earned global recognition, like ISO 55001 certification, for asset management services. In the Nordic zone, deals of more than 800MW were closed.

RES CEO Ivor Catto stated: “It has been a primary focus at this period to keep the power running, and I am glad of how our team has continued to rise to the occasion in the year 2020.” I am happy that we have continued playing our role in advancing new clean energy generation in line with the vision of creating a world where everybody has access to adequate zero-carbon power. “Renewable energy continues to be the cornerstone of our climate emergency. We are looking forward to the next productive year in 2021, as we keep supporting our customers around the world and provide consumers with clean energy.”

RES is the world’s leading independent clean energy corporation operating in energy storage, wind, solar, and transmission as well as distribution onshore and offshore. RES has generated over 18 GW of clean energy projects globally at the forefront of the market for 38 years and maintains an operating resources portfolio greater than 6 GW internationally for a broad client base. RES has negotiated 1.6 GW of the power purchase agreements (PPAs) that provide access to electricity at the lowest cost, acknowledging corporate customers’ particular needs.

So far, renewable energy has become the most resilient energy supply for Covid-19’s lockout steps. Although demand has dropped for other green energy applications, renewable electricity has become relatively untouched. In Quarter 1, 2020, the global renewable energy usage in all industries rose by approximately 1.5 percent compared to Quarter 1, 2019. Renewable power production has been increased by almost 3%, mostly because of the construction of new solar and wind PV ventures over the last year. So renewables usually are shipped before the other electricity sources. Power grids have managed higher shares of both solar and wind PV along with depressed energy production. As this use fuel blends for road transport dropped, the use of green energy in the form of the biofuels decreased in Quarter 1 2020.
